Gone With the Wind….. February 23, 2026
Goodbye family,
No more are we happily
Together.
Can God save a soul,
Or maybe,
My soul is on parole.
Twenty-three years ago today,
I went away.
Goodbye.
’Twas all gone with the wind,
Gone with the Schwinn,
Adios.
My soul was superfluous,
It was ridiculous.
Goodbye.
But then she died,
The kids cried.
Goodbye.
Is my soul
No longer on parole,
What’s my role?
But it’s all gone with the wind.
I can’t pretend,
It’s okay.
But try anyway.
No more yesterday,
Just today. TJM

Okay now I am a little sad. But that means your poem works. Sigh.

1981 and ’82 was a deep depression. Interest rates were 20%. Money was tight. Too much pressure.
