Inka Dinka Doo,

Da Nico Restaurant, Little Italy, New York City

Inka, Dinka, Doo. Powder Blue Tuxedo Boys

December 29th, 2024

The Powder Blue Tuxedo Boys are dressed up in their best tuxedos. They are sitting inside the Da Nico restaurant in Little Italy on the Lower East Side of New York City.

It’s about 5 PM, and snow is falling outside. The restaurant is filling up with old New Yorkers speaking in Italian accents.

Timothy: So, we flew all the way here from LA. Landed in a snowstorm. For a tribute dinner to Jimmy Durante?

Patrick: We’ll be well paid. It’s all I could get. Kamalatoe has dumped us, and Trump won’t answer my calls.

Timothy: That’s the thanks we get for all we did for them. So sad. So predictable. So…prevedibile.

Patrick: When did you learn Italian?

Timothy: During our crazy adventure in the tunnels of Calabria.

Patrick: Well, it’s “prevedibile” that we are going to sing “Inka, Dinka, Doo” in honor of Jimmy Durante. I hope you practiced your lines.

Timothy: You’re the Italian. You sing the song. Don’t forget your fake nose. I’m playing the part of Harry James.

Patrick: As if you can play the trumpet.

Timothy: I have a kazoo, which I’m very good at.
Patrick: Gesundheit!

The boys are called onstage and perform their Inka, Dinka, Doo act flawlessly. The crowd laughs and claps like mad Italian seals.

Patrick and Timothy are sweating profusely after their act. They haven’t been this active since hula hoops were popular. And then, they just watched.

The owner of Da Nico comes by to compliment the Powder Blue Tuxedo Boys on a great tribute to their native son, Jimmy Durante, who grew up in Little Italy. The owner complimented Patrick on his nose and Timothy on his kazoo playing.

Patrick: We earned our pay. Time to go home to the Frolic Room.

Timothy: What was our pay, by the way?

Patrick: Airfare, a free dinner, and membership in the Pasta of the Month club.

Timothy: Inka, Dinka, Doo.
