Space Shuttle Endeavor Comes to Los Angeles on October 16, 2023. Powder Blue Tuxedo Boys
It’s another beautiful 80F blue sky October afternoon in Los Angeles, California. The Powder Blue Tuxedo Boys are as usual, in their private booth at the Frolic Room drinking Becks Beer.
Eddy is wiping down the bar and turns the TV channel to local news at 4 PM.
The huge white booster rocket engines of the space shuttle Endeavor are being towed through the streets of Los Angeles to the California Science Center’s Samuel Oschin Air and Space Center.
There the space shuttle Endeavor will be united with its booster fuel pod and engines in a vertical display reaching up 7 stories in height.
Patrick and Timothy watch the TV video as the two yellow semi trucks slowly tow the huge white booster engines down the streets of Los Angeles.
Patrick: Those are some huge phallic symbols.
Timothy: Yeah, I’m surprised that the lesbians aren’t protesting. “Why can’t NASA launch a vagina into space?”
Patrick: And the shuttle is named “Endeavor” to put a cap on it.
Eddy starts to laugh.
Patrick: Eddy, how many shuttles were built?
Eddy: Six were built but only five went into space and that was only low Earth orbit.
Timothy: And how many blew up?
Eddy: Two, Challenger on launch and Columbia on re-entry.
Timothy: See, I always told you guys that take-offs and landings were the most dangerous parts of flight.
Eddy and Patrick both give Timothy a look of bored disdain.
Patrick: And what’s with that long name for the museum? “ California Science Center’s Samuel Oschin Air and Space Center.” I’m surprised that Carl Sagan’s name isn’t in there somewhere.
Timothy: Who the hell is Samuel Oschin?
Patrick: Maybe he had erections like the space shuttle with boosters.
Timothy: Oh, I can already see the Pfizer ad. “Get two boosters like the space shuttle and endeavor to beat Covid.”
Patrick: Sure. That Travis Kelce guy will be standing next to the rocket.
Timothy: And Taylor Swift will be straddling the rocket.
Patrick: Then the shuttle goes into the Covid spiky ball thing and destroys it into bits.
Timothy: Which then spreads the Covid to everyone in LA.
Patrick: And masks and booster shots are again required in the county.
Patrick’s phone rings.
Patrick: Yeah. Oh,… you heard all that? …. really?… how much?… Okay.
Timothy: Kamalatoe?
Patrick: Yeah. Seems she just heard our conversation and wants us to write the script for the Pfizer ad using the Endeavor and boosters in the background.
Timothy: Do we get Kelce and Swift for the commercial?
Patrick: Of course.
Eddy: Can I meet Taylor Swift?
Timothy and Patrick look at Eddy with disdain and a sigh.
Patrick: I think it would be fun to have the whole shuttle fall over during the commercial.
Timothy: Yeah. That would be dramatic.
Patrick: The punch line would be, “Don’t let your Covid protection lapse. Don’t be like the Endeavor and have your support systems fail. Get more boosters!”
Timothy: Final shot a close-up of Kelce and Swift saying in unison, “Get your boosters now!”
Patrick: Big smiles. Crane with Pfizer logo comes in to lift Endeavor back into erect position, fade-out.
Timothy: Oh, that’s money.
